This can't be happening, can it???

First, three big roller coasters and today, diving into 13 1/2 feet of water from the side and diving board with no assistance or catch person. Isn't he only 4???? Would someone PLEASE remind him of that?!
All it took was about 1 minute of instruction and Creighton was able to perform 2 perfectly executed dives into over 13 feet of water as the instructor looked on from the side and his mother nervously watched from the bench. I was sure someone would have to go in for him. Nope he quickly surfaced and swam back to the edge. NO problem!!!

Today's lesson

Today Colby had a new instructor. He watched her swim and then came over and asked me how old she was and if she was on swim team. This seems to be a trend. He said she has a great form and is a fast swimmer for her age. I asked Colby if she would be interested in swim team and she said yes. Maybe that will be her thing. Maybe we'll let her try it out this year.

So far today...

we slept in again until 8:30am (this could be a bad thing we are starting), had breakfast, Colby went to the library with Mrs. Manjoine and her summer reading pals, Creighton and I went to the riverfront to play, and then swim lessons at the aquatic center. This afternoon we are going to swim at home, mow grass and do laundry. Then the rest of the week we can play, play, play....

Early present

An early anniversary gift from Greg's parents. THANK YOU!

I put it in the landscaping, but until it becomes a bit weathered it wasn't quite rustic enough to fit in so it got re-located to the patio door entry.

(Dave--I posted this picture just for you. I know you want one of these really bad so if you are really nice to me I might get you one for Christmas :)

Lessons

Colby is a good swimmer. She is strong and moves through the water nicely. Last year, her instructor suggested that she try swim team. (I however opted to ignore that comment :)
The kids are doing the semi-private lessons this week--2 students per instructor. They pair the kids by ability. Colby wasn't real thrilled when they paired her with Creighton! It just happens that he and Colby are the strongest two swimmers of the group. But, since Colby is ready to work on some more advanced skills and Creighton needs to refine his strokes they are going to bring in another instructor for the rest of the week and they each get private lessons. That definately worked out to our advantage! Such little fish....

Swim Lessons

I am home this week with the kids. Our daycare is on vacation so rather than find alternate care I took the week off. It really is strange to me to be home during the week especially in the daytime. Today we slept late, went to swim lessons, got groceries, had lunch at home, went to the West Liberty pool and we were back home by 4:30pm to cook steaks on the grill. So, we plan to make the most of our week. With the predicted heat, there is lots of swimming on the agenda. We may just hit a different pool every day:)

Colby riding

Colby is getting very confident in her riding. However, she is a little impatient and when he doesn't perform exactly how she expects him to, she just gives up. When she gives him 'mixed signals' he will just stop and stand and wait until she figures out how to make him do what she wants him to. But, overall she seems to be a natural. Creighton rides him too and does quite well also. But, he does prefer something with wheels and a motor :)

Jescie riding

Jescie has ridden Blaze enough that she is starting to get it down and really loves to ride him. I was laughing and taking pictures of her as she was trying to keep him from eating trees. I really should have been helping her, but it was funny. Blaze was much more interested in munching on tree leaves than riding for Jes.
