Happy Birthday Dad--it's a big one this year (ahem...no longer in his 50's :) All I can say is...you may be sixty now, but you still have some good looking kids :)

And I can't forget....

While we were having a GREAT adults only day out on the river. The kids were so lovingly cared for by my brother Dave and his family. Dave invited them to his company picnic where they got to fish, play games and see a trick horse. They LOVED it. And Dave came away with a Wii so I think it was worth it! After they got done there they went back to Dave's house for swimming and playing with Mackenzie. It ended up being later than we anticipated getting back, but the kids were still playing and having fun--not ready to leave yet! All day today Creighton was begging us to go somewhere so he could go stay with Mackenzie :) Saturday was a good day all around....

Another boating weekend

We went boating again this weekend. This time no kids. Greg and I went with Jay out in his boat and met mom and dad out at the 'beach'. They were out with Dad's cousin Dale and his wife Lonnie. They have the big blue houseboat (pic in previous post) and this little SeaDoo for running around. We spent a little time at Bikini, a little time running up and down the river and had dinner and a few beverages at Ducky's.

more first day pics

eating breakfast as school (they prefer to eat at school--doesn't say much for my cooking skills, huh?)
waiting patiently and slightly nervously for his teacher to come get the class from the gym
putting his bag into his locker--with perfection I might add. not sure where he gets his neatness from :)
waiting with enthusiasm to start his first day of KINDERGARTEN!

He had a great day and so did Colby. They were giddy with excitement even AFTER school. Lots to tell me and ready to go back. Colby told me that her teacher is more like a best friend than her teacher. Not sure how she made that assessment so soon, but obviously she had a great first day and her teacher made a great first impression on her. I am sooo happy for that! And so thankful for the teachers that put their hearts and souls into shaping these kids. We are ready to tackle another school year!

Kinder Camp

I took Creighton to Kinder Camp tonight. He was glad to see he has a friend from church in his class. They took off to the playground with the Principal while I stayed with the parents and teacher to get 'the lecture'. I didn't take any pictures and I forgot his school supplies. Not exactly the way I intended to start the school year. However, in my defense:), I was thinking that tonight was just the meeting and that tomorrow we would deliver his supplies when we take Colby's during back to school night. Oh well, doesn't matter. If that is the only screw-up I make this school year I would be one happy momma....

Back to School!

We started our back to school routine tonight. Early showers, early to bed and it will be early to rise. Hard to believe this is it. Summer is just about over. Tomorrow Creighton has Kinder Camp at school. Tuesday is back to school night for both of the kids and then they are on their way Wednesday morning for their first day.

Creighton is not excited about going to school. He says it will be boring and he is just appalled that they have 'nap' time. When we went to visit his teacher I don't think he said a word and wouldn't even look at her. I have a feeling in about two weeks she will meet the true Creighton.

I think Colby is ready to go back. About a week ago she said she was getting bored. I definately think she needs to get back into a structured routine. That suits her much better than the freedoms and laziness of the summer days.

School--ready or not, here they come!

New cat x 2

I think it was just a few posts ago I discussed our newest arrival....a baby kitten. Two days later it was no longer the newest arrival. Now this cat is......I have now lost count of the number of cats we have. Although, the kids know and each cat has a name too. Meet Chloe....

And here she is meeting the yellow 'boys'.....

I actually kind of knew that this cat could possibly make an appearance at our house. It's owner thought it needed a different home and asked if it could become part of our cat family. I couldn't say no. If anyone else has a cat that they want to find a new home for, PLEASE, do NOT call me :)

Out for a boat ride on the Mighty Miss.

It had been quite awhile since we had been on the river. Greg and I had a boat (pre-kids) and spent many, many hours on the river. My brother Jay took us out yesterday. The kids loved it. I again have a case of boating fever.....I LOVE the river. The kids begged me to buy a boat. I think it's a GREAT idea :) I mean, what is the point of living so close to the river and NOT having a boat???? We'll see if the kids and I can play our cards right with Greg :)
