Puppy Has A Name!!!

Finally, after a week of discussions/debate, this puppy has a name! Colby affectionately named her "Elizabeth Jones Carlson" I have no idea where she came up with this, but we all concurred. I asked Colby what we were going to call her for short and she replied "Lizzie". Well, for those of you who followed this "puppy naming" saga, you will remember that Lizzie is the name I had picked out in the first place! Colby was in no way interested in naming her Lizzie when I suggested it. But after it became "Colby's idea" it was just perfect. And it is.....

(If you notice in each of the pictures of the kids holding Lizzie, she looks a little like, "ugh, I am being dragged around by my armpits AGAIN!" But, she is the sweetest puppy ever. She just lets them do whatever they want to her with no complaints. WE LOVE HER!!!) Posted by Picasa

It's OK, puppy!

Winter Wonderland

I think I figured out the picture thing. (Thanks for the tip, Jody! Picasa is so cool!)

Not very often can I get both kids in ONE picture! Colby was very mad when she had to abandon her sled and sit on Creighton's for a picture! I am thankful that I have two kids that love the outdoors - no matter the weather. They must get that from their dad because when it is cold I often find myself telling them - "I'll watch you from the window!". Although I must admit, we had a blast sledding this day. But, with our 50 degree weather lately who knows when we'll get to do it again! Posted by Picasa

Nothing Replaces Home....

Today as I sat in a doctors office waiting room reading I came across the following:
TV has replaced conversation, Email has replaced letters but nothing can replace home....

As I drove home from Iowa City that thought ran through my mind a million times and as I reflected on that it made me think. Am I creating a home that someday my kids will long to come back to? Or is it just a place that they are living? I can only hope that we are creating a place where Colby and Creighton know that they will always be welcome, be loved and can call home.......

(PS - Still haven't figured out the posting picture thing, but I will be sure to get it done tonight!)

Too Much or Not Enough Time?....

As I sat here at my computer tonight I thought....There never seems to be enough time in a day to get the NECESSARY things in life done. Yet, somehow I seem to find the time to sit here and write this senseless entry. You may think, that if I have time to create these ramblings I must have TOO much time on my hands. Although, when I think about the load of laundry that needs done tonight, the dishwasher that needs loaded, bags that need packed, clothes laid out for tomorrow, etc, etc, etc I immediately tell myself - there is just not enough time in a day to get it all done. Therefore, I have concluded that time is just what you make it. You can have too much or not enough. It's all how you look at it.....

Stepping Out On A Limb....

I have officially decided that I CAN do this. I have enjoyed writing over the last couple of years, but haven't had a place to do it consistantly. I have been inspired by a few friends with blogs of their own. So I am going out on a limb.....We'll see how it goes! Stay tuned and enjoy the many happenings of the Carlson Crew!!
