Bird Man

This guy had a live bird as part of his costume. Colby and Maddison thought it was pretty cool. Creighton thought it was a little weird.

Perfect!

What a perfect fall day! So glad it will be pleasant for the little goblins tonight. I can't wait to get some pictures of the kids. Hopefully, their costumes fit them--I didn't have them try them on--oops! And I forgot Colby's shoes. I guess I'll just go buy another pair. Every girl needs an extra pair of cute black shoes, right :)

I haven't taken pictures for a long time so I think we will have to hit the park for pics before we hit the streets for treats! Yeah for the perfect weather today!

36?????

As of yesterday, I am 36. That sounds so much older than 35. I am getting too close for comfort to that big 4-0.

It was a pretty uneventful day. I guess when you are as old as me birthdays no longer equivocate being 'queen for a day'. Although the day did create a little extra cash in my pocket and a gorgeous gold chain from the kids (and some yummy treats at work!). I have a very pretty diamond that I haven't been able to wear for a couple of years because I broke the chain. So they got me a BEAUTIFUL chain that hasn't left my neck since they gave it to me Sunday night (they couldn't wait).

Last night after I picked the kids up from their daycare I asked them if they wanted to go out to eat. (I shouldn't have to COOK on my birthday, should I???) That instantly fired up an argument between the kids as to where we were going to eat. I let them duke it out for awhile before I said "Here's a novel idea--it's MY birthday, how about I pick where we eat for once!". After hearing my suggestion I got the 'yuck' and 'I don't like that place' responses. To which I said, "fine, we are going home, not eating out and you will be happy to know that you are having peanut butter sandwiches and don't ask me to take you out to eat for a VERY long time! And by the way--the bread is stale! And guess what else, I HATE McDonalds and will never eat there again!"

And, I promptly headed home. Where, luckily for them, I had cresent rolls, cheese and hot dogs so they got pigs in a blanket. And I went to Casey's and got ding dongs and a diet pepsi for myself. Just another Happy Birthday for me.

Thankful

Last night Creighton was mad at me at bedtime because he wasn't done 'farming' (he 'farms' the green shag rug in the kitchen). Apparently he hadn't got all of his 'crops' picked and they just couldn't wait until the next day. So, he trudged off to bed and stomped up the stairs to his room.

As I was helping him get ready for bed we were discussing an assignment he brought home from school. He brought a feather and we are supposed to write what we are thankful for. I asked him what he was thankful for. He didn't come up with anything so I said, "Are you thankful for your family?" He very loudly proclaimed, "NO--you are mean, dad is mean and Colby is stupid!"

Obviously, another very proud parenting moment :)

Today

I had to go out and take pictures of the slough today for work. It has some issues and is in need of some TLC. However, I thought this picture shows it's underlying beauty through all the junk. A prayer I've said many times. Lord, help me see the beauty amidst the junk, the pain, the hurting and the ugliness. Open my eyes, help me see....

Where is OSHA when you need them????

Yes, this is Greg, in the dark, at the top of the very tall ladder, which is propped on the hood of the TRUCK, fixing the yard light!!! Truly redneck and truly the unsafest thing I have EVER seen him do. Colby went in the house and said she didn't want to see him fall. He survived, but the light isn't fixed yet.

Goalie

Creighton loves to play goalie. He is much better suited for other positions, but he loves to be the goalie. I hate to see the dissapointment on his face when he gets scored on.

To be or not to be....that is the question.

We need to sell our house.....we have 90 days to do it in. I am ok with that. Whatever happens, happens. It's not in our hands anyway. His timing...not mine. Remembering that tonight.

Monday, Monday

It's Monday. I am at work. I was sick most of Sunday with a nasty headcold. I got up early this morning to get ready for work knowing I would have to take some medicine to clear my head. It is now late afternoon. I just looked down and realized I have two different shoes on. Oops. No one has said a word--either they haven't noticed or have and will use it against me later somehow. Ugh. You have to be kidding me--two different shoes??? How on earth did I manage that??

Colby's weekend

consisted of lots of friends. Friday night football game with Jescie, spent the night at Jescie's house Friday. Home for Saturday afternoon horseback riding. Then to Anna's birthday party and spent the night at Anna's house Saturday night. Now tonight Anna will be spending the night at our house on Sunday as her dad will be having surgery very early Monday morning and they won't be able to get her to school. So we are happy to be able to help in some small way. Fourth grade girls...they are something :)

Yesterday was a beautiful day for a ride. I took Blaze out for quite awhile, out in the quiet peacefulness of the fields, warm sunshine, happy me, happy horse.

When I got back Colby wanted to ride, but I didn't want to switch saddle's so she rode in mine. Her feet don't reach the stirrups but she still does fine. Just a little explanation on why it seems her saddle doesn't fit her in the pictures :) She actually has an awesome saddle. It's obvious we need another horse so we can go out together, but I just don't know that we will ever find one we love like Blaze. He is too funny.

Maddison

We had Maddie for a couple of hours tonight. Since Colby is away at a sleep-over, Maddison and Creighton went out for pizza and bowling! They had a blast. They get along so amazingly well. We all love her. She never gets a day with me that she doesn't get a little photo-shoot :)
