A Sad Day In Chicagoland

Jimmie Johnson during the race introductions

  Jimmie leading Earnhardt--LOVE that!

Back today from the Chicagoland Nascar weekend. It was awesome with the exception of the outcome of the race. My goal is to NOT ever attend a race that Jeff Gordon wins and I did. Although he should be ashamed of the way he did it--taking Kenseth out with a cheap shot. Well, I'm sure that anyone who cares about Nascar watched it and doesn't need a re-cap play by play from me :)

We arrived at the track around noon on Friday and camped on the infield until Monday. It was SOOO awesome. Nikki and I even got a hold of a couple of garage/pit passes so we got an up close look at some of the stuff we usually only see on TV.

That is about all I can tell you. The rest of it falls under the category of "what happens in Chicago, stays in Chicago"! :) Posted by Picasa

saw colby and creighton this morning at the Y. Colby told me she was excited for you to get home, but she really didn't get sad at all over the weekend with you gone. she's so funny! glad you had a good time. i know nothing of racing, but i am very sorry for you loss...

That's it for now--not sure I would want to expose the details here :) Just imagine 150,000 racefans in one location--all having their favorite drivers and not liking those that don't like the same. It is a perpetual party for three days. Very fun, a bit crazy. Neither one of the kids missed us--which I consider a good thing--they enjoyed their weekend with the sitter. Colby called us once because the momma cat had moved the kittens and she couldn't find them. They were safe and sound on the floor of Greg's old mustang in the garage. I asked the sitter if Creighton wanted to talk and he didn't want to. They were content and so was I :)

Yes, racing is something that you fall in love with over time. I had the choice of loving it or not seeing my husband on Sunday afternoons during racing season :)
