I spent the afternoon shopping in Coralville. I spent the entire afternoon with a scowl on my face. Crowds, rude people, heavy bags, tired feet, spending money, meaningless gifts. This is not what it is supposed to be. This is sooo not what Christmas is about. Every year I say I won't do this again. That we will celebrate Christmas in such a way that is pleasing to God. But I feel so trapped in this world of materialism, brand names and more is better attitudes. I hate that I feel so pressured to buy the best, the most, and then some more. I hate that I continue to fall into the trap even though I know it's coming. As God is watching over the hustle and bustle of this season I believe He hangs his head low and says 'this is not the way it is supposed to be'....
