A Quick Turn of Events Today

So, after having a fever since Friday, I thought Creighton had turned the corner. He went several hours last night with no Motrin and no fever. On Saturday night his fever had sky-rocketed to 105.3. He hasn't eaten hardly anything since Friday and apparently wasn't drinking as well as I thought. But, I thought he had kicked the fever and was on his way to being well again.

This afternoon his fever came back with a vengance and within an hour he was a very, very sick little boy. Spent over two hours getting many tests, blood draws, urine sample, strep culture, chest xrays, etc. Came up with pneumonia and an ear infection to boot. His tests also concluded that he is dehydrated too. So, while waiting for his white blood count results to come back, the doctor said to be prepared to be admitted in Iowa City. Then he got some high-powered antibiotic shot in his leg that took FOREVER to administer all the while he is screaming "IT HURTS" at the top of his sick little lungs. This is all happening between 3:30 and 5:30pm tonight. Not the greatest weather conditions for driving to Iowa City, but I know that I will manage just fine. Might take awhile, but when mommy adreneline kicks in I am pretty much invincible :)

It ended up that his white blood count was pretty decent considering his circumstances so we avoided an admit. He is taking some oral meds along with his shot that should hopefully take care of business. We have to get him checked out again in the next day or two so as soon as the snow stops and the roads are plowed we'll do some follow up.

So please pray that he is on the mend and that his meds will destroy all the ickies in his precious little body!

We are prepared to stay home tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be a restful day full of healing around here!
