Check Up

I took Colby to Iowa City this afternoon for her one-week post surgery check up on her arm. Not an ideal situation, but it could have been worse. It is still in alignment but has healed with a pronounced V. So, based on the xray, she currently has a 'hump' in her forearm. The doctor said that with an adult, the same situation would require a re-break and a plate be put in. But, with a child there is a chance that it will 'flatten' out on it's own as she grows. As it is now, the bones will fuse and be as strong as before and won't cause her any problems, other than cosmetic issues. If we were to surgically repair the 'hump' it could give her trouble for the rest of her life and not be as strong either. So, for now, we are choosing to trust that it will flatten on it's own as she grows and will be good as new. She has three and a half more weeks in her big cast and then a couple of weeks in a shorter cast and off just in time to go back to school :(

Our trip to Iowa City also included lunch at Panda Express, dessert at Whiteys, and some shopping. Colby also got to spend her Barnes and Noble gift certificate and got four books to keep her busy for awhile (THANKS WOLF'S!--she was in book heaven today!!!!)

Tonight Creighton is at baseball and Colby and I are hangin' at home. Kelsey came out and just got done trimming our horse's hooves. I really need to think about getting some things packed up. We will be moving the last week in July. Lots to do before then. Spose I should be doing something a little more constructive than blogging :)

So, that's our day in a nutshell. Looking forward to a long weekend even though we will be at Creighton's ball tourney Fri, Sat. and Sun.
