Better?
Since the week before school started there has been a new rule in effect at our house. NO TV AT ALL on school nights. The only time the kids are allowed to have the TV on is Friday nights, Saturday afternoon/evening and a little bit after church on Sunday. Early Sunday evening the TV is off again until the following Friday night. We have pulled it off without a hitch. No one complains, no one has argued about it and they don't even ask to have it on. I love it. No more competing with the TV. I was sick and tired of hearing, "just wait till this show is over" or "just a minute, wait till commercial", etc. It has worked out just perfectly. Now when they are allowed to watch it on the weekends a lot of times they opt not to. Amazing that in a few short weeks their interest in TV is almost completely gone. However, they are on the computer every night. I guess that is better(?) They do fight over it at times, but for the most part they take turns doing their computer activities. Maybe they have just replaced one thing with another, but what they are learning on the computer just seems more educational. Who knows maybe in another few weeks I will start having to limit computer time too! Then what? I'm sure they'll figure out something to keep entertained. They always do.
