Take Cover

So, this was our third year for this trip. We have always had perfect weather until this year. We arrived at the track at about 2:30pm and got camp all set up. By early evening this was rolling in......

It was scary looking stuff. We have satellite tv in the camper and were watching the weather channel. I guess there were tornados dropping down out of these clouds on occassion. The camp officials were coming around telling people to take cover in an underground tunnel that went from the infield of the track to the grandstands. However, the boys chose to stand out in the high wind and torrential downpour and try to save the awning of the camper (while I stood by to be sure the event was documented with photos :)

End result - awning saved and nobody hurt. Just a sopping wet mess. But, amidst the company of such good friends, we just laughed and had another beverage :)

We were out for dinner when those clouds hit here. We watched them over take the car and follow us all the way home. It was possibly the freakiest thing I have ever seen in a storm.
